Here's the GoPro footage from the Tough Moutain Challenge

Pattie Reaves, the Web Editor at the Sun Journal, and I ran as a duo in the Tough Mountain Challenge at Sunday River on Saturday. Here's the GoPro footage from the course. I wore the GoPro on my head, ate a little mud, skinned my knees but we made it. It was a great race and good time.

We dubbed our team  "Bad-News"  I was, "Bad"  Pattie was - "News".

Quick trip to Mt. Desert Island

Amy and the boys and I did a pre-Father's Day trip to Acadia National Park on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We spent one day hiking the Beehive and lounging on Sand Beach -- yes we even went all the way under in the fridgid Atlantic that day. On the way home we stopped by Fort Knox and went up in the observation tower on the Penobscot Narrows Bridge near Bucksport.  Here are the photos from that trip and a video from the Beehive hike.

The long dock at Mt. Desert Campground, where we stayed.

Shiver me timbers there she blows -- the Margaret Todd is thankful these cannon are plugged.

Ski season videos from 2012

We made the best of a light natural snow year but got to go big-mountain skiing in Montana with family and that was a plus for 2012.

Big Sky Days 5 and 6.

Here's a few videos and photos finally cobbled together after vacation. One features Finnegan racing down a luge-like run. There's helmet cam footage of Bjorn in an earlier video. This is the chase scene shoot with the Zoom cam in one hand.

Earlier on Day 6 I skied solo off the Challenger Lift and then met Jay for a run on Lower Pinnacle. It's to the right of the tram station and high on ridge that features these jagged teeth-like formations of rock. The troughs or furrows between were fairly thick with snow.

The Finn and Kai pre-game show. Go Patriots.

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]These guys are super excited for the Super Bowl. But only because some of their buddies are coming over to play pre-game.

Guess who skied hard today?

Img_0289

Kai dialed in his Alpine turns. Now stopping. But I can tell he worked hard and learned a lot because he's zonked out cold. A good day with friends on a mountain in Maine will do that to you. ;)

Training yesterday. My turn to ride.

Mike Webber training on Boris at Mt. Abram Friday. Good day on the hill sled runs for training. Plus Kendrick, some rope tricks, and an unexpected slide down Fearless Leader.
